Desi Girl Monika Bedi


Monika Bedi is daughter of Dr. Prem Kumar Bedi and Shakuntala and was born on January 18, 1975 in a village named Chabbewal in the district Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Her parents migrated to Norway when she was 10 months old. They run a garment store in Norway. She has a brother (Bobby Bedi). She went to school in Norway. Monica returned to India from Norway at the age of 18 and entered Bollywood.

 She is a Bollywood actress who started her film career with Suraksha (Hindi) and Taj Mahal (Telugu) in 1995.
Monica paired with Javed Sanadi, she was eliminated in round 6 although her improvement was highly appreciated by the judges and she regarded the show as a new beginning of her life and career.
Desi Girl.Monica was a contestant on NDTV Imagine's Desi Girl reality show. She was the 4th girl to get eliminated due to the conflict caused by the villagers if she stayed.Monica regained her popularity after her participation in the reality show Big Boss – Season 2 on Sony TV. Now, she is coming up as a participant in reality show – ‘Desi Girl’. A glamorous face, which will be soon seen in forthcoming reality show ‘Desi Girl’

In September 2002, she was arrested along with Abu Salem by the Lisbon police for entering Portugal with forged documents. After years of legal battle, they were deported to India on 11 November 2005, after India promised Portugal that Salem would not receive death sentence.


Bedi was acquitted of all criminal charges by a Bhopal court on 16 July 2007 due to lack of evidence against her. Yet another case for possessing a passport from Hyderabad on forged documents in the name of Sana Malik is pending in a Hyderabad court. The Hyderabad Court however denied her bail in the case as she failed to produce her original passport. Monica said she lost her passport in Dubai. On 25 July 2007 she was released from the Chanchalguda Central Jail and was received by her father Prem Kumar Bedi. She said that she planned to make a comeback to films and claimed to be getting offers from both Bollywood and the Telugu film industry. Upon her release from the prison, she moved back to her village, Chabbewal in district Hoshiarpur, Punjab and stayed there for a few months. After that she again works in film industries.
